Navigating workplace bias as a woman leader requires a combination of self-awareness, strategic action, and allyship. Here are key strategies to help you overcome systemic barriers and lead with confidence:
1. Own Your Authority
Be assertive in your communication – Speak with confidence, use decisive language, and avoid diminishing phrases like "I just think..." or "Sorry to bother you."
Set clear boundaries – Ensure your time and expertise are respected by maintaining firm but professional boundaries.
2. Document and Address Bias
Keep records – If you notice patterns of bias (e.g., being talked over, credit being taken for your ideas), document incidents and discuss them with HR or mentors.
